Rural Projects Artist Residency and Studios is located in Gallatin, NY (Columbia County - 16 miles south of Hudson). We seek an artist-in-residence in possession of wide-ranging construction skills. This residency reinstates RP’s Bartering Residency whereby the artist-in-residence receives a 1000 square foot live/work studio in exchange for working on barn renovations 20 hours per week. (See application procedure, renovation sections below).
RP HISTORY & MISSION
Rural Projects was founded in 2007 with an operational hiatus 2015 - 2016. Artists and spouses Greg Lock and Sarah Anderson Lock serve as Artistic and Executive Directors, respectively.
Rural Projects is a rural workspace and residency program for artists who utilize or address technology in their work. RP provides a bucolic backdrop for a period of focused studio practice, site-specific work and occasional public exhibition opportunities.
We are in the process of updating our website. Navigate to the PROJECTS page to view past Bartering Residents and their projects. Click here for Greg’s and Sarah’s biographies.
